MiLB Prospect Tracker: May 10

Hey everyone!
Welcome to another edition of our /OnTheFarm's Top Prospects Tracker, brought to you by the diligent work of youngnake.
In "Yeah, I figured" news, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Blue Jays) slugged three more home runs this past week. He's slashing a ridiculous .387/.440/.651 in his first taste of Double-A this season. He only turned 19-years old in March.
Fellow top prospect Eloy Jimenez (White Sox) continues walloping Double-A pitching. Despite missing the first chunk of April, Jimenez is coming off his best week yet by going 15-for-29 with three home runs and nine RBIs. He collected two more hits in yesterday's win to notch his ninth-straight multi-hit game. Teammate Zack Collins (White Sox) walked 12 times last week and has a peculiar, but good, slashline of .247/.454/.447 this spring -- and that's after a dismal start.
Brendan McKay (Rays) is gathering more and more industry-wide acclaim for his performances both on the mound and at the plate. He was good, if unspectacular, in the batter's box last week -- going 4-for-17 with seven walks and a homer -- but on the mound, he shined bright. He struck out nine of the 17 batters he faced in his one start last week. McKay went 4.2 innings and did not allow a hit and walked just one at Class-A Bowling Green.
In an effort to cheer Reds fans up, Taylor Trammell was 5-for-16 last week with four walks, a homer, and four RBIs. He's always been known for his tools across the board, but what he continues to do is impress with his feel. He's yet to really struggle so far in pro ball, and is slashing .298/.398/.510 in his debut season at High-A Daytona. On a sour note, Hunter Greene (Reds) made an appearance last week and was knocked around, and he walked four in 1.2 innings.
Finally, Nick Gordon (Twins) has over 700 plate appearances under his belt at Double-A Chattanooga and looks like a building block again. He went 10-for-29 last week with a homer and four RBIs. The 22-year-old is slashing .339/.369/.534 so far this spring and is bound for a promotion, though Minnesota is awfully delicate with their prospects.
As always, this Top-100 list was taken from FanGraphs because it was easier for coding purposes. The bolded statistics under a prospect's name are those that are 50 percent better than league average.
Thanks for reading!

rewatch of 2019 : 1.14 to 1.18 Red follows Lucy Brooks and takes some necessary detours.

From 1.14 to 1.20 Red is trying to find out about his enemy by concentrating on Lucy Brooks AKA Jolene Parker, but first he indulges in a heist to recover stolen property. The battle between Red and Tom continues, and even after Red delivers Tom tied to a chair, Tom manages to upset the applecart by leaving a picture of Red at Sam’s hospital. At the end of 2.20 Liz, with the help of Aram, had pieced that Red killed Sam and is furious. Liz’s first betrayal, out of anger at his betrayal of her is close.
But more than anything, 1A was Red’s introduction, he gets his immunity, and gets on with identifying Berlin, takes a detour for his little war with Tom, and then all comes to a halt with the incursion, that leaves Red feeling unsafe in the post office. Tom winning the round, by convincing Liz Red planted the box and passports is a setback.
Madeline Pratt feels to me like a reboot, Red is assessing what the situation is vs. what he estimated first. Even though Liz was mad with him in 1.06 & 1.07 things got better in 1.08 and then he comes out of the box for her in 1.09. This one seems like the eye of the storm, the calm moment of peace and happiness when things seem normal, the new normal.
In 1.02, of camera she had taken his DNA for a paternity test. In 1.10 she does not believe his negative. But by 1.13 she is far less angry, and is in fact having fun with Red. This is happy Liz, dressed in red, she believes Tom again, and she seems more attached to Red, even so more now that Sam is dead.
Seeing things in light of season 6, it seems that Red had erected protective walls around Liz so that she could have a somewhat normal childhood, and this is part of his plan to take them down, rebuild Liz to make her be ready to face the dangers of being who she is. Part one, the beginning of Liz doubting everything about her is done.
1.14 Madeline Pratt AKA let us play charades and see how far the education of Ms. Keen has got.
Red, Madeline and Liz tell lies to everyone, everyone pulls one on someone else, the nukes are located, Madeline gets an ugly painting worth 40 million, as @jen-5225 says, the same amount in the banks in Rassvet and the amount the man in Johannesburg was willing to pay for Red’s head. There are 11 charades: Liz plays Madeline and steals her phone SIM card telling her a story; Liz steals a badge; Red makes his campy impersonation of Liz’s gay minder; Red stages a fake abduction (note how padded he is, so when is is tasered he is still ok, and the a sob story of the bloody Christmas house and gets the coordinates; Madeline steals 10 million in a safe deposit box in Istanbul destined for Mrs. Reddington (Carla Reddington and Red would give her something in case she needs anything in 2.04); Madeline plays Liz and Red by using Red’s notoriety to steal it herself, and gets back at him for standing her up in Florence; she stiffs the Russians by stealing the coordinates again; and then she steals a 40 million painting and still waits in Florence and The Kungur 6 turn out to be suitcase nukes
It is a romantic story, between Madeline and Red, who apparently likes them dangerous, a nice primer to the kind of woman he favors, but it also has a father story: Firas Ashear whose father is alive and a warlord, but dead to him, a father who had stolen a precious object and bought dangerous information giving it to his son to hide (think Liz and her bunny with the stolen fulcrum)
After this, Red will have to save Ressler and Cooper, and a little fortunate detour to recover stolen money, before the unexplained The Undertaker case and the Pavlovitch Brothers which comes as the CIA had extracted a Chinese Germ warfare specialist from a prison camp in China. Sure, he is still tracking Jolene through The Cowboy, but the detours prove costly, as by the time Tom is gone as a result of Liz investigating the disappearance of Jolene Parker and Tom’s reaction, he leaves Liz proof that Red was there with Sam, which gets Liz’s first betrayal, quitting the task force and getting Red arrested and thrown in a deep hole as Cooper warns Liz. Her second will come in season 6 as Liz thinks Red is an impersonator taking the name of her father.
This is the third time that Liz is working covertly with Red in the field:
  1. In Wujing presents her as Carolyn Givens, PhD in Physics and expert in cryptology. She and Red communicate well.
  2. In General Ludd Red calls Liz Christina, and after she does her bull in a China shop impersonation with the badge, recovers nicely and follows Red’s lead to salvage Red’s reputation.
  3. In 1.14 she is Nicole, and they worked nicely together. I believed before this re-watch that the Frank story was true, and Red had been always following Liz. But this time, I think Liz did invent the story, from the leads Red gives her:Tell her that story about Frank & Tell her about Omaha.
  4. In 1.20 he will present her as Natalie to Charles in the cigar lounge.
Sensing a theme? On the fly Red's names for Liz are Christina, Nicole and Natalie, all names with a Christmas connotation. Add Red telling Liz she is a Winter, not an Autumn, and I am beginning to think Liz was born in late December 1985, right around Christmas.
Cooper charges Meera with investigating the death of Diane, something Meera cannot be too interested in doing, because she knows what happened, in fact she helped Red find Fowler as a the culprit when Diane had her as the second tier patsy, after Aram as the first tier patsy failed. So, Meera went to someone and Special Agent Walter Gary Martin appeared at the end of the episode, taking all the files, and we know he was ordered by Fitch to let Red escape in 1.22. So it would seem Meera went to Fitch or Peter and they sent a cleaning guy in the form of Agent Martin.
I remain very curious about Red’s expression when he sees The Kungur 6 newspaper article. I have begun to wonder, did they exist? Were they a CIA charade? Was Oleander one of them?
The Christmas story was a great charade including the fake kidnapping with lots of padding. I bet the beginning of the story (walking in the snow after running out of gas) is true, and the third is just a reminiscence of his daughter’s hand on the cheek. The middle is a hack of Liz's descriptions of the Amani scene with Tom: "Uh, there was blood. There was blood everywhere." which he made it into: "And there was just blood. All I saw was blood. All there was was blood.".
Red hired The Cowboy to find out about Lucy Brooks, and finds out she has been following him to Miami (to see Maltz), Havana (to see Manny Soto) and Port-au-Prince (selling weapons).
But before he surrendered, Red went to Prague, same place Velov tracked Katarina in 1991. I think a place for communications between Red and Katarina. A safe, a safe house?
The conversation with Richard makes no sense if he had believed Red is the one who committed the treason because he then gives him even more classified information. And he is an admiral, just how sidelined he got?
Richard recognizes Red’s voice as his roommate’s. This man knew Raymond Reddington and he recognizes Red. Cooper too. Both Navy men. Alan does too, calling him “Ray”. The Stranger in 6.22 calls him Raymond and he knows Red from childhood. Dom, Dembe, Carla (to Liz), Stratos. I do not know if Red had a doppleganger who misled the KGB, but I am certain that Red is the man the US Navy knows as Raymond Reddington, even if that is not his real name. His father excommunicated him because he was difficult, so I figured he took different name, to distance himself from his family.
The second thing that struck me this time is we had the execution of Alan Ray Rifkin, and in season 6 we almost had Red’s execution by lethal injection. Alan Fitch died in a revenge killing for making Berlin believe his daughter had died. Alan calls Red Ray, and Red almost died by lethal injection too.
Red has had many instances where he says this is not about revenge. So, it must be about building a case,
The Judge must be when Connolly gets in Peter’s radar as a way in into the task force, which means that Meera had outlived her usefulness, like Diane, and when Peter overplayed his hand, he too was disposable, as Red told him: I’m going to bring this whole damn thing down on you, Peter. And when I do, your own people will beg me to kill you to stop the bleeding. Fitch was eager not to have Diane’s disappearance investigated too. Assets who become liabilities are disposed of. And I think this is what really happened to Meera Malik. I will expand on this when we get to 1.21/22
1.15 Mako Tanida or saving Donald Ressler
The episode gives us another shapeshifter, Jonica, who takes over a criminal empire, making believe he was the Tanina's bookish brother, whom he killed. The second cop will be Ian Garvey. Other law enforcement officials such as Diane (cultivated because she was in charge of the Task Force), Tom Connolly (cultivated because he had an in to Cooper) and we see Laurel Hitchins cultivating a US Marshal in season 3, an institution where they did not have anyone before. Peter and Alan in intelligence were also cabal members.
I had always assumed that Red knew before surrendering that Berlin had hired Tom, seduced by Red’s omniscience, something the writers cultivate to obscure Red’s POV. But Tom and Liz had been married for 2 years, so that was my clue that Red had no idea Tom was working for Berlin. His annoyance with Tom was that Tom had got involved in Liz despite the fact he specified she should not. The Major added that Tom’s job was to get to know Liz, which for Tom read as a directive to spy on her.
So, Red was furious Tom had married her, because he felt it was a betrayal. I think the reason he cites Tom when he surrendered was because by marrying her, he had ceased to be an independent protector, and was now emotionally involved, which we have seen how it obscures things, even for Red, it makes things dangerous.
Ressler is gives us proof of it: Tanida had done nothing to the families, so, Ressler taking Audrey with him put a target on her back. The best thing he could have done is tell Audrey to get as far away from him until Tanida was captured. Ressler thinks logically, but he was emotionally involved and did not.
The Cowboy takes pictures of Jolene with Tom, and this is where Red realizes Berlin had hired Tom, but he does not know Jolene was sent to spy on Tom besides tracking Red down to Miami, Cuba & Haiti.
In this episode Ressler is the one providing the parallel, one that will repeat in Aram in season 6. In his extreme fear for the woman they loved being in danger, the reaction was not logical. Ressler kept Audrey with him, Aram trusted the wrong person, the one who had the best motive for wanting Samar dead, because he thought Levi was like him, despite knowing better. In fear he reacted.
We know Red was in a situation like Ressler was, losing the woman he loved. And instead of turning back and going home, he went for vengeance, and lost the light. Red tells Liz that nobody can murder someone in cold blood and come out ok. So, I think that is what he did. My best candidate is the bones.
We had the second suffocation death in Jolene, when seen in contrast with the businesslike killing of the Cowboy, Jolene was personal. If Tom is going by Red’s book, this was about feeling betrayed. Red killed Newton and Levi like that, both despicable traitors. Jolene had got close to Liz, and had seen that Tom was emotionally involved with Liz.
Most of what Tom told Jolene were lies. That there were many candidates, he was chosen and he married Liz as a job. It would take to season 5 to see this was all lies. Tom did not even know who was his employer when he married Liz against what The Major asked him. Tom did not find Berlin, Berlin “made a connection” by following rumors and the rumors got him to a wedding, and the wedding yielded the Keens, and The Major. For Tom, Red had hired him to spy on Liz, and after he married her, he gets an offer he cannot refuse to work for Berlin, learns his former employer was Raymond Reddington, and supposed RR was dangling Liz as bait. He had to do what he could to protect Liz, and that involved making Berlin believed he had married her as a job. Jolene exposed that as a lie, and was threatening Liz. Her killing was personal.
At the beginning Ressler asks Red: Let me guess he double-crossed you, and you want his head in a box, and that is exactly what Red delivers. This will be taken in season 4 with Agent Gale in Tanida’s headless body, and in season 5: “You said that once you cross over, there are things in the darkness that can keep your heart from ever feeling the light again. I didn’t go home, but I never crossed over. I never thanked you for that”
The ballerina I think is Liz, based on season 5’s “When I was little, I loved ballet. Whenever I performed, I felt a presence. At graduations, too. And my wedding. I don’t know. I just always felt I always knew someone was watching over me. Protecting me. Guiding me.”, with an old program, likely Liz’s first recital, and the last time he saw her dance, circa 1997. That is why it was never repeated after 2014, because he had made contact with her. But in March of 2013, when he commissioned the following year’s, he was not likely to have known he would surrender in September, prompted by Sam’s cancer, Tom’s buying of 3 passports, and the Keens about to adopt a baby, plus I think his plan to tear down the protective walls and finish preparing Liz had always been on the way.
But the chosen ballet is interesting: a doppelgänger story with a magician and his daughter, a prince, all ending by a drowning in the lake.
The story is a siblings story, specifically avenging a brother, killed by the shapeshifter bad cop. It is the second brothers story in which we have a bond between the brothers. The first one (The Courier), the younger one explaining the “badder” brother, and the “badder” brother, the hardened criminal caring and protecting his baby brother. The second one, criminal Mako, avenging his younger brother. I think The Stranger will be Red’s brother.
1.17 Ivan. A side step to recover stolen money.
Like 1.14, this case is about Red taking the opportunity to recover stolen money, this time at his high interest rates. Again 10 million, like Madeline steals from him. It would seem Red has lots of 10 million accounts and safe boxes.
It has very interesting parallels, including two I had not noticed before (but u/jen5225 did): the absence of knowledge about pop culture in Tom and Red and both men noting that we never really know anyone. It would bite Tom and Red in the behind as Liz outmaneuvers them both at some point.
Red about Tom: We never really know anyone, do we?
Tom about Jolene: You never really know people do you?
This is another father story within a romantic/stalker sub-story and an identity story involving using someone else’s name. A digital supplanter so to speak.
This is the second NSA agent whose cover job was TV repair or cable support. Seth Nelson from The Courier had a cover as tech support for a cable company and Nathan Gregory Platt was employed by Roy’s TV Repair . Makes me wonder what was Aram’s fake job as he was plucked from the NSA by Cooper.
I had forgotten Ressler’s fake death of a shot. Made me think of Carla Reddington’s strange death, if it happened.
This is the first grandmother of the show. We will see Red mention his with the flour in the refrigerator, Scottie Hargrave will become one, and so will Katarina, Katarina’s mother & Lady Luck.
This is the first time Red asserts he has never lied to Liz, in relationship to Jolene Parker. The second will come in season 4 about the subject of Kirk being her father.
But in season 5 Liz is clearly wise to RedSpeak: I asked if you knew about it, and you said, "I can’t say.” Does that mean you don’t know, or is “can’t say” some clever turn of phrase that makes it possible for you to be honest and secretive?” But even now she is wising up to Red’s brand of “honesty”:
I can’t answer that. You can’t or you won’t? Well, that’s a matter of interpretation. Not to me. You said there’s always something you’re not telling me. Just once, I’d like to hear the whole truth from you. I wish I knew the whole truth.
I think simply Red at this point had no idea who Tom was working for, and assumed it was his unknown enemy. But he had not know this back in 2013. In Requiem, Red says the reason he is surrendering is because “elements from Katarina’s past are circling Elizabeth like a pack of wolves in the night”. So, who were they?
It was not Tom. Did Red think this unknown enemy was related to Katarina? Yet, the funny thing is that Berlin was related to Katarina, because Berlin was set by Fitch, and Katarina was working with Fitch to end the USSR, which Berlin was plotting to save, Fitch took his daughter away, while Berlin thought he was saving her from prison, so, who did Berlin reach out to? Maybe fellow KGB agent with ties to the West Katarina Rostova. Maybe that is why Berlin believed it was Red who murder his daughter, because Katarina was known to have ties to RR. Katarina’s job was to find the apparatchik who she could turn to the cabal to end the USSR, and likely, identify those who oppose them to disable or kill them. Berlin was one of them.
The music box scene is a highlighted moment. The 1940 would make that be in the generation of Red’s parents. Did that belonged to Liz’s grandmother? To Lena? Who was the father who hummed to Liz? Sam as seems apparent or was that Red, forgot after the memory manipulation? It is obvious Sam did all Red told him.
Of special interest to me are the things Liz remembers:
  • The MUSIC BOX: I know this song. When I was a little girl, I had these terrible nightmares. I remembered flashes of of fire and smoke. God, so much smoke. My dad would lay in bed with me and hold me in his arms and hum that song,
  • KATE’S WORDS: Where’d did you hear those words? I know those words.
  • the 20 STEPS TO THE BEACH: LIZ: 20 steps to the sand. JENNIFER: You remember.
  • her ROOM at the Summer Palace, the SWING, and burying the TIME CAPSULE.
  • She remembered BASIC RUSSIAN WORDS AND PHRASES when Rostov used Russian
  • She remembered the SHOOTING when she shot Connolly.
And the things she did not:
  • KATE, not even after meeting her in 1.10, being in the Summer Palace, encountering Channel-wearing Katya, or being told she had been her nanny.
  • HER MOTHER’S FACE OR VOICE. In the recall of 2.10 she calls her “the woman” and does so until she learns a name in 2.20
  • CONSTANTIN ROSTOV
The people she had trusted and gravitated towards from the very beginning:
  • Red
  • Jennifer.
Her dream of 2.03 in which she makes a connection between Naomi, Red and the night of the fire, amidst fears, this time of Red: “ Has he told you? Has he told you anything about that night, about the fire? You need to ask him, Liz, for the truth about why he turned himself in to the FBI. No. It's not what you think. … Go ahead and ask him, Liz. Make him answer. You deserve to know the truth. Your father, Naomi Hyland. Red doesn't want you to know that that night, the night of the fire -“
The people and things Red avoided telling Liz about:
  • who Sam was to him, to Katarina
  • who Kate was to her, and Katarina
  • who Dom was to her
  • who Red is to her
  • the identity of her father
  • what happened the night of the fire
Up to 2.10 Red seems to want to avoid anyone telling Liz anything: Sam, Carla. He does not tell Liz who Kate was, even after telling her her mother’s name. I think the reason Red blew up the blue Takoma Park house is to avoid Liz remembering it. But after 2.10 Red is trying to get her to remember, all of it, which is why he wanted the doctor’s research in the Longevity Initiative.
The conclusion for me is that what Red really erased from Liz’s memories was not the shooting only, that she shot her father, but he also extracted all memories of her mother: her voice, face, name, and ALL that went with her: her maternal grandfather & her nanny. I think the rest of the memories, the ones that she recovered in 2.10 & 2.22, 3.02, 6.02, about the fire, the shooting, her room, even the time capsule, and the 20 steps to the beach had not been the object of Krilov’s treatment. I think what Krilov eliminated from her memories is the memory of her mother the night of the fire, and the memories of Kate and Constantin. Time did the rest.
Raymond I'm not sure Elizabeth will ever be ready to learn about what you did to Katarina. Make sure she was always kept away from her daughter by eliminating her memories of her.
1.18 Milton Bobbit. Getting Tom into more trouble and why that list?
Another great example of Liz and her temper, when she half breaks her house. Sure Tom will NOT notice a few items missing or misplaced. It was likely that and not Liz’s performance what tipped Tom off. So, Red did not exactly lie in that famous storage room scene. Liz knows a lot about Tom, Red only knew he was a Major recruit hired by him.
This scene strikes me too as another one of those scenes where Red started with intentions of telling more of the truth:
Several years ago, it came to my attention that somebody was meddling in my business. To protect myself and my interests, I inventoried my vulnerabilities Me. Among others. Lizzy, I’ve been monitoring Tom since he entered your life. About a year ago, I discovered that he had purchased three passports from a trusted forger I use in Warsaw. That’s it? He bought passports? My husband chose me. He inserted himself into my life because of you.
Liz’s outburst likely told Red she was not ready to hear it, and he took any chance he could not to fess up. Why is Liz ignoring that Red referred to vulnerabilities in the plural? Narcissistic tendencies. Red had others: Carla and Jennifer, Maybe Dom, and who knows if The Stranger was another one.
This reminds me of this exchange with Jennifer:
In 1990, the KGB and the CIA had almost nothing in common except the mutual determination to hunt down one individual. You.
Jennifer’s answer tells him that she does not know much either. The individual being chased by both KGB and CIA was Katarina. Why is Red telling this to Jennifer as the reason her father abandoned her? As an honest answer?
We get another one of Red’s “opportunities” meaning something hugely distasteful someone else does so Red learns something:
I think you’ve been presented with a unique opportunity. The people Tom works for are obviously very cautious. They operate slowly from the shadows. I’ve spent years tracking them, to no avail. We now have a chance to draw them out. Meaning => go back and pretend your life is normal so Find out more about my enemy. Never mind I actually told you he was a danger to you, I misspoke
Recognize this rather fortuitous opportunity for you to begin to make things even. Where can I find Tom Keen? =>Or I kill you.
I offered you an opportunity to elevate your position within the Cabal, Kenneth. => betray you lord and master.
Thanks to your desire to protect Charlene, we’re presented with a unique opportunity to find out what the Cabal is up to. => continue as the duped fool so I learned more
An opportunity has come our way. => a murdered agent gives me the chance to get Jolene’s VICAP number.
I’m well aware of the men and resources we lost in Cairo. Perhaps this is an opportunity to let our new friends at the FBI carry the water. => The FBI can take care of themselves.
What you do have is an opportunity, which brings us back to the effigy of Atargatis. => I stood her up and she is mad as hell.
I’m offering you an opportunity, Richard. The men who want this information can be very helpful. If you help them, it could put you back on track. => for you to give me more classified information.
You had my undying gratitude, so when the opportunity arose, I facilitated your freedom => Now you will get 50 years for escaping when you almost had parole.
Alice, I don’t think you see that we have an opportunity here to make both of our fantasies come true. The Djinn is a middleman I believe you’ve outgrown. Tell me his name. Tell me all about him, and I’ll get him out of your way. => betray your employer
the Zal Bin Haasan case has opened a window of opportunity we must slip through with great haste. => Samar sacrificed her terrorist betraying brother for me
These meetings are infrequent, Lizzy, making this a very rare opportunity. Follow this fish, and you can net the entire school. => I need to repair my reputation and I need you to help me
You may recall I once had he opportunity o broker the sale of Rembrandt’s “Storm On The Sea Of Galilee.” => You arrived and saw me with stolen property.
No, Harold, this presents a unique opportunity to feed Kirk disinformation. => The Thrushes are inside the network, but I can find what I want.
Aram’s abduction presents a rare opportunity => Aram will be fine, Dembe will not hurt him, but if you think he is in danger you will act faster.
Earlier today, you two were both on your way to trial, to prison, and now, thanks to us, you’re both free. Free to greet opportunity knocking at your door. => now if you are caught, you get 30 years to life.
I figured since you were going under the knife anyway, it would be a good opportunity to get it over with. => I shot you, it was the least I could do.
and a few others do:
KATE: I saw my opportunity. => to help you fake your death, with would likely create unnecessary damage your bonding with your child, and likely result in Red Kirk and Tom dead. No matter, I will try again with the bones later
Tom was so sure he could read Liz. So was Red. I think Liz is a far better liar than anyone believes she is.
• Tom’s real name was Christopher.
• Craig Keen’s real name was Christopher too
2 mentions of Chicago, the second and third ones:
  1. Kate was contacted by calling The Emissary hotel in Chicago
  2. It’s called “Chicago Skyline”
  3. I don’t know his real name. He’s got a brother in Chicago. (must be a lie or a foster brother)
  4. Vanessa Cruz says he went to Chicago went she needed to do things
  5. Red orders one Chicago double dog
  6. To liberate Stratos he has this cover story: 25 years in Chicago parking on the street, and my car gets taken in Monte Carlo.
  7. Kate’s sister was living in Chicago in Requiem: Masha can’t stay in a hotel that long. She needs a home. I can take her to my sister in Chicago.
  8. Red’s wants to have a dinner reservation there: You want me to make a dinner reservation for you? - In Chicago? –
  9. Katarina’s mother was living there: Lives in Chicago with a dog and a cat, three credit cards, and a subscription to Foreign Affairs.
  10. Kate had supposedly studied Medicine in Northwestern, a lie, because Aram does not find that. (thanks u/ayt00212)
I think this pointing to something, but I am not sure what. A lot of the references I think are meaningless, except to keep the location fresh .The Chicago connection brings me to Kate’s weird story
There was something strange in Katarina not killing Kate. Kate was a huge loose end. She was a blabber as we see with Annie when she had just met her. She defied Katarina orders to walk away from Liz by going back to Nebraska to give her the rabbit in a deleted scene . I suspect to take Liz from Sam.
I also found the scenes in Requiem where Kate’s mother died very strange. The mother is in a plaid dress, so is Kate and there is a man at the back with plaid. That is a lot of plaid for a funeral. I always felt that was a fake death.
But the strangest thing to me about Kate was that she had to have been sent to Katarina by someone with a fake curriculum vitae. She was a cleaner and minder of sorts. She took interests in things that were none of her business, she completely ignored Constantin as if he did not exist, not even contemplating going back to his house. She deduced from Katarina killing a KGB agent that Katarina herself was KGB which made no sense, because one kills agents from the opposite side, which to me meant she already knew it and was fine with it.
Kate, an American citizen, had a job that was to help a KGB operative seduce and spy on American targets, by caring for her child, while she gallivanted on her sexual conquests, but told her to stop seeing the American in the car. And then she had the gonads to call Reddington a traitor?
We also have the 20 vs 30 years. We see Red hiring her in 1997, so why was she under the impression Red was instrumental in having her sent to Katarina, that Red had placed Liz in her arms as a baby? And we had already establish that someone sent her. Kate knows Red as Raymond Reddington, as seen by her referring to Naomi Hyland as his wife. Kate’s loyalty was not to the US, she was a soviet operative or sympathizer, calling Red a traitor to his country, while she felt her loyalty to Katarina as a KGB agent was justified.
So Kate was sent by someone who was or pretended to be a KGB asset to keep an eye on Katarina.
And Kate has ties to the city where Katarina’s mother was living under the alias Virginia King. Kate’s sister lived there before moving to Wisconsin, if Red’s story of why she was in WITSEC is true.
So, was Kate’s sister in WITSEC because she could put away a Russian mobster or something different? Carla Reddington was in WITSEC as a hideout. Why? It was to hide from the cabal, but what kind of story would allow her to be put in WITSEC?
Maybe because she HAD been providing information that implicated her husband in the USS Gideon business. Like the fake bank accounts. Otherwise why else would she be placed in WITSEC? To what was she a witness?
Finally a never solved mystery: Whose murder was Red looking into that he had such a pensive look looking at the list? The only other revenge he took was Inniko
